Brian just found this 1945 telegram which was sent to his father Sid who was serving in R.A.M.C. with the Central Mediterranean Force in Italy. His mother-in-law was reporting the birth of his first child (and her first grandchild, David) in Liverpool the previous day, 26th July. Notice the bit cut out, presumably a security measure by censors who seem to have passed it on to Sid on the 30th July. He was posted back to England 2 weeks later on compassionate leave. He was then based near home until July 1946 when he was released from the Army.
